Jodie Herrera - Each work has a specific story of sanctity and affliction in the human existence, while still striving to remain unaffected by the implication of their duality. The light that drives our survival and the darkness that complicates it are equally necessary in the creation of beauty. I use high contrast, scale, and also the subject of the female gaze specifically to render this. Behind each beautiful face there is a dark secret, a story of imperfection or torment that can be more engaging than the flesh.
